1 Day in London Itinerary

Morning: Embrace the Classics

Kickstart your day bright and early with a hearty English breakfast. Head to a local café or diner and indulge in a hearty morning meal - think crispy bacon, sizzling sausages, eggs cooked to perfection, baked beans, grilled tomatoes, and buttered toast. Wash it all down with a piping hot cup of tea or freshly brewed coffee to fuel your adventures ahead.

Once you've fueled up, it's time to dive into London's rich history and iconic landmarks. Start your exploration with a visit to the Tower of London. Marvel at the imposing fortress, delve into its fascinating history and don't miss the chance to see the Crown Jewels in all their glory. Afterwards, take a stroll along the Thames, and don’t forget to snap a photo with the Tower Bridge! Walking along The Queen’s Walk, head towards the London Bridge and admire The Shard from afar while soaking up the London River Thames scenery.

Midday: Culinary Delights

As midday approaches, satisfy your hunger with a taste of London's diverse culinary scene. Head to Borough Market, a foodie paradise brimming with stalls offering everything from artisanal cheeses and freshly baked bread to international street food and gourmet treats. Take your time to wander through the bustling market, sample local delicacies, and soak up the lively atmosphere.

After indulging in a delicious lunch, it's time to continue exploring. Make your way to the South Bank of the River Thames and continue your leisurely stroll along the waterfront. Stop by the iconic Thameside landmark, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and catch a guided tour or if you’re lucky, a matinee show. Whether you're a seasoned Shakespeare enthusiast or a newcomer to his works, there's something magical about witnessing one of the most unique, remarkable and breathtaking theatrical spaces in London.

After the curtain falls, continue on your adventure. Admire panoramic views of the city skyline, snap photos of the iconic London Eye, and soak up the lively ambience of this cultural hub.

Afternoon: Cultural Immersion

Next up, hop on a classic red double-decker bus and embark on a scenic ride through the heart of the city. Admire iconic sights such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, and Buckingham Palace from the comfort of your seat. Be sure to have your camera ready to capture those Instagram-worthy moments!

From Buckingham Palace, take a stroll through The Green Park, one of the Royal Parks of London. To the northwest of Green Park, you can admire Clarence House, St. James’s House, and Spencer House. All that walking is sure to work up an appetite, so head towards Fortnum and Mason for some afternoon tea. This 18th-century department store is by far one of my favourite places to stop by when I’m in London. Head up to The Parlour, where you can enjoy scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, and wash it down with a pot of their signature tea. My stomach is grumbling just thinking about it! Afterwards, head downstairs and grab yourself some Fortnum's Famous Teas to take home!

Now that you’ve refueled, it’s time to keep exploring. No visit to London would be complete without immersing yourself in its world-class cultural offerings. Head to the world-renowned British Museum and discover treasures from around the globe, including the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, and ancient Greek sculptures. Admission to the museum is free, so you can explore to your heart's content without breaking the bank.
