Dining at the World’s Largest Rooftop: Offshore Chicago

When I heard that Chicago is home to the world’s largest rooftop, you bet I had to get a reservation there. Offshore Rooftop, located at the far East end of Chicago’s Navy Pier, offers uninterrupted panoramic views of Chicago’s Lake Michigan and the city’s famed skyline. In this blog, I will take you on a journey through one of Chicago's most spectacular dining venues, highlighting the breathtaking views, the dining experience, and the vibrant atmosphere that make Offshore Rooftop a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to Chicago

A Glimpse into Offshore Rooftop’s Extravagance

Picture yourself dining on top of the world, with the sprawling Chicago skyline at your feet and the vast expanse of Lake Michigan before you. That's precisely the experience you can expect at Offshore Chicago, the world's largest rooftop bar and restaurant.

Given the title of 'the world's largest rooftop bar' by Guinness World Records, Offshore Rooftop is an all-seasons, all-weather rooftop, thanks to a 36,000 sq. ft glassed indoor lounge (with a fully retractable roof), leading out to a 20,000 sq. ft terrace, with two private lawns, seven fire pits and even an entertainment and gaming area. Talk about the WOW factor.

You can find the world's largest rooftop, Offshore Rooftop at 1000 E Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60611.

New American Cuisine with a Twist

The dining experience at Offshore Rooftop offers coastal-inspired light bites and shareable plates that are available from 11 a.m. until close. The full-service bar hosts a selection of specialty cocktails, bubbles, wines and craft beers.

They also offer happy hours each day of the week, available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, featuring half-price craft beer and wine by the glasses, $2 oysters and a variety of small plate options. On the weekends, they offer brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

While dining at the Offshore Rooftop for Sunday lunch, I enjoyed the Faroe Island salmon. The lemongrass cream sauce complimented the seared salmon beautifully. My partner enjoyed the Offshore Prime Burger and we shared a bottle of rose wine. While I did find it slightly off to be served a bottle of wine with plastic wine flutes, and no wine cooler, who can complain with views this like?!

Sky-High Entertainment

The fun doesn’t end with dining and drinking! Offshore Rooftop hosts a range of events throughout the year including seasonal and themed ticketed events featuring an open bar and passed bites. They also host monthly group fitness classes that finish with a mimosa and brunch bar. Sign me up!

Tips for a Memorable Visit

You can reserve a table through Open Table, and outdoor seating is first come first served. Weekends and evenings tend to be a more popular time for dining, so I recommend enjoying lunch like I did if you'd like to avoid the crowds.

Once you’re finished with your lunch, I recommend taking a stroll around all that Navy Pier has to offer. If you’re looking for a sweet ending to your rooftop experience, stop by The Original Rainbow Cone stand and grab yourself a Chicago-famed rainbow cone.
